Can i removed viruses by restoring?

3305>If i could find some viruse on my computer, can i remove it by doing restore?
Reply:no you need to do a virus scan and the quarantine them. restoring will not get rid of them
Reply:What sort of restore? If you restore the whole computer softs, then all viruses will be gone. If you just uninstalled a program, this will not work as the virus is loaded to the operating system.
Reply:no

technically most viruses have to be removed manually or with software.

Some viruses actually start when you restart or reboot.
Reply:No.

Windows Restoration restores only the system files. It has nothing to do with viruses. The Viruses will still be there.

Do a scan with AVG virus scanner and scan online at

I think that will sort out your problem.
Reply:No
Reply:This is a possibility I think. On my previous PC a couple of years ago I had a virus problem and restored the PC to factory condition using a disc supplied by the company who sold it to me. If you have such a disc try it and see if not get in touch with the company who supplied you the PC and get their advice.
Reply:No you can not , make sure that you get an anti virus programme or you will end up ruining your computer altogether
Reply:Nope that would just bring your PC back and still leave the virus there just clear it with like AVG
Reply:Do you mean system restore? No, the usual advice is to switch off system restore before trying to remove malware.

It usually becomes infected, so a virus or trojan will re-install itself from there.

Also, if you run your anti virus and anti spyware in Safe Mode it has a better chance of removing it.

There's a list of free software on my blog.
Reply:If you are familiar with the Task Manager processes, then you can try to stop the ones that you feel are unfamiliar and this should work. You can go to any anti-virus website and look for the command to end the process. This is the easiest way..

That starts something like msblaster.exe,wblast.exe. These are the one that the PC don't need and they are likely to be worms or virus..You can try to go into safe mode and do a scan and remove the virus...
Reply:the answer is NO, if only it was that easy, "sigh"

First you must have software that will detect the virus,

I use Norton Symamtec and find that this software to be very good, OK it might slow down the computer a little bit as its running in the background all the time searching for any virus's and admail threats and if it does find anything then it will tell you that it has found a virus, after that it will give you options on what to do with it.

To answer your question can you remove a virus by doing a restore, like I said at the beginning "no" all you will do is to restore the computer and the virus.

Once you have anti virus software installed on your PC you must first,

1 Disable system restore ( windows me/xp )

2 Update the virus definitions

3 Run a full system scan

4 Delete any values added to the registry

This software is not free, as I think that you only get what you pay for these days and the free software on the websites might work but then could miss other important vulnerabilities. good luck

Reply:Yes....! This can be adopted if you can not remove thevirus using the antivirus and antispywaeres. This will erase all your lattest downloaded software also...! Carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html

The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
