2547>This may sound silly, but my fiance's daughter has "The Sims" for the PC. We just got a new computer which is different than our last. Our last computer was Windows Xp, this one in Vista. The Sims game worked fine on the other computer, but is now experiencing serious problems with Vista. For example: She will spend like an hour or so building a house complete with the "Works" and find that even after saving, she will come back to the location where she built everything, and it will be gone. It does a lot of weird things .
So I was wondering, is it possible that while she had the game in our old computer, could it have gotten infected with a virus (as the pc itself had tons)? Or is it a compatability issue with Vista? We have searched for patches but found none. Any help with this would be great! Thanks so much
Reply:It's simply a compatability issue with Vista. You may want to check to see if there is a fix for the issue on the Sims website. This is an ongoing problem now for Vista users. I wouldn't rule out the possiblity of a virus, but in this case, it would be the entire computer being infected, rather than just the game.
Reply:Viruses are generally downloaded from the internet, but they can effect games I suppose. Sims tends to have a lot of spasmatic bugs that pop up every now and then and seem to leave as soon as they came. Try saving the house often, or making sure the computer doesn't get too hot. If the problem continues, you might have to reinstall the programs.
Reply:the game is not infected ..
compatibility issue
what may help :
- right click on the game icon
- go under "compatibility"
- select "run this program in compatible mode for"
- go on the drop down menu and select "WindowsXP"
- the game should work without a problem now.
