2534>Its good for there business if they can infect your computer and then charge you for there programme to remove it. Anyone been involved with this activity
Reply:It has been suggested that this could possibly be the case..
Reply:I would not put it past them. Think about it only computer experts can create computer viruses.
Reply:nope.
Reply:Well the same people that write the viruses write the anti virus programmes so it's a self perpetuating business!
Reply:it's possibal a lot
Reply:There are enough sad idiots writing viruses without the software sellers needing to join in. The fact that any firm would be sued out of existence if it was proved they had been deliberately putting out viruses makes it rather unlikely that any company would risk it.
Reply:sound similar to microsoft buying Yahoo so it can get hold of google? interesting theory. Also heard of uni student. studying IT, getting homework "create a virus" if you wanna pass?
Reply:It does make sense, but i think you've probably thought about it too much. I bet the really big companies definatley wouldnt, and are there really any really small companies that sell these? I really dont believe humans have got to the stage where we're THAT sad. Yet. Ask this question again in 10 years.
Reply:yeh i've had something similiar happen to me. my computer was infected with spyware (a type of virus) then a program told me i needed ant-virus which cost about 拢50...i bought it, only for it to be a rogue program who had infected me in the first place and they gave me more viruses after i bought it! nightmare! (and they had my credit card details too because i paid over the internet with credit card so i had to cancel that card etc etc etc!) be very careful with anti-virus things!!
Reply:Alot of these small anti virus companies create specific anti virus programs for specific viruses, I remember having a list of over 200+ companies which did it.
But don't think the large companies are innocent either, My friend works for a reputable anti virus company, his job is create wild type viruses so the companies anti virus program will be able to handle it in the future if it is "developed by some one else"
But usually what ever viruses companies make are low threat ones. The serious ones are by out siders who want to make a name for them selves.
Reply:It is always being suggested but having seen the reactions of the AV research staff when I worked at McAfee I do not for a second believe it.
A new starter jokingly mentioned the idea to one of the researchers and he had to be physically held back from thumping the guy that made the suggestion. I guess he had heard it just one too many times.
The researchers are the most truly dedicated bunch I have ever met - and they have some very creative names for the prats that send the viruses (and now spam) around.
Reply:I can remember a few years ago receiving an alert that my PC was infected, this company offerred free virus checks, the check showed loads of viruses in my PC and that the only way to remove them was to buy their product. Like a fool I did this and my computer ran so slowly, and I noticed that everytime I ran a scan it showed exactly the same items on the log file - was I really receiving exactly the same virus each month? Eventualy I un-installed the program, that was a nightmare too as the machine kept freezing, since then I have used Norton alongwith adaware and spybot and my PC runs so much faster with a lot less problems!
So, in my opinion some of the software sellers do infect your PC to make you buy their product!
Reply:Hello,
(ANS) I understand what your saying but I think that is being a wee bit paranoid to be honest with you.

Reply:no.but iv come across fake anti virus software that infected my computer.
Reply:I highly doubt it. Especially since some of the best anti-virus software is available for free.
Although my computer security class teaches security by breaking it. Then we fix it.
