2505>Not all pop-ups equal viruses. First of all, are you using Windows XP? Are you on IE or Firefox? While browsing the Internet, it is entirely normal to receive some pop-up ads. If you have good pop-up blocker software it should kill most of these annoying things.
Pop-ups can mean you have a nasty virus if you are flooded with them. Another telltale sign of either a virus or spyware infestation is if you get pop-ups even when you are not on the Internet.

Reply:General question, I am assuming you have the problem of viruses and pop ups here.
-Download Spybot Search and Destroy from http://www.safer-networking.org/ .
-Download Ad-Aware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaw... .
-Download AVG Anti-Virus from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
ALL are FREE. Install them, reboot into safe mode (usually done by pressing F8 while booting).
Update each programs definitions and scan with all three. Remove any malicious stuff. Reboot.
Reply:Download the Firefox web browser at www.mozilla.com. It can prevent lots of internet viruses, and it does a great job of blocking pop-ups.
After you start using Firefox, avoid using Internet Explorer.
Also download AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. You download it from the second link in the sources below. It's a great free Anti-Virus program and the updates are free!
If you still have pop-ups and other junk appearing on the screen even though you're not running Internet Explorer, also download Spybot Search and Destroy and run a full scan to remove spyware. (Third link in the sources.)
