Can I get viruses from downloading songs from virgindigital or other legal online music stores?

3381>Most likely not but anything's possible.
Reply:no because is legal
Reply:99% of the time you will not get a virus from downloading music off a legal music source. They scan most of their files to ensure quality. Yet nothing in life is certain so just be prepared by constantly updating your virus scan software.
Reply:Probably not - if they are legit then they try hard to keep viruses off their systems. The music file may be clean, but the site could get attacked.

Always scan - there are free scanners out there.
Reply:Not likely, As far as I know standard music file are not capable of containing viruses. However it might be possible that someone may specifically encode something that triggers an exploit in a specific player like Winamp, Win Media Player and others. It is unlikely that you would encounter one of these from a commercial site.

As for viruses in general, do a little research and learn the most common extensions like that viruses use. Some of the most common now are lnk, scr, and vbs. They change regularly. Also if you use windows configure your OS to ALWAYS display the extension. This helps you see viruses more easily. .
Reply:Most likely not, however keep in mind that since MP3's can attain a virus, it may very well "attain" one on a virginDigital server...unlikely yes.....impossible no......

Always keep your internet antivirus updated and active anytime you surf the net.
Reply:Make sure they're legit. There have been some popular sites that say their legit, but don't have the rights from the record companies
